Observation Deck #1
👋 Welcome
Thanks for reading.
I’m trying something new—a weekly note sharing what I’m watching, reading, noticing, or thinking about. Nothing long. Simply thoughtful things I’m drawn to and hope you might be, too.
I’m calling it The Observation Deck.
Fun fact: the most famous observation deck in the world is on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. About 2.5 million people visit every year to zoom out and see the city from a different angle. That’s the intention here each week—to pull back, get a wider view, and spotlight what’s worth seeing.
I’m genuinely grateful for everyone who’s been reading so far. The response has been incredible, and I truly appreciate your support.
📺 WHAT I’M WATCHING
Slow Horses (Apple TV+)
Of all the shows I’ve watched over the last year, this one is at the top — sharp, funny, great acting. In my opinion, this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time, and definitely the best spy shows. If you haven’t watched this, put it at the top of your list.

📚 WHAT I’M READING
11/22/63 — Stephen King
I just finished Stephen King’s 11/22/63, which my son bought me as a gift. It’s long, but it’s one of those books you never want to put down. It follows a high-school teacher who discovers a portal to 1958 and is drawn into a mission to stop the JFK assassination……but the real story is the life he builds along the way and the dilemmas he faces. It took me maybe 2 months to read, but I looked forward to it every night. For a novel this big, it never drags….. it’s an epic. If you’re looking for a book that will carry you for a while, or to take with you on a long vacation……this is the one.
💭 OBSERVATION OF THE WEEK
In case you missed it……here’s my take on Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss for LSU 👇
🔥 QUOTE OF THE WEEK
I don’t often quote Iron Mike Tyson, but this is one that has stuck with me over the years.
“Be humble, or the universe will visit humbleness upon you.” — Mike Tyson
I believe this is 100% true..
🧭 ONE USEFUL THING
Everyone knows walking is good for you. But the part we skip over is how we walk.
The study in the Wall Street Journal basically says this:
If you take most of your steps in little bursts — five minutes here, three minutes there — it doesn’t do nearly as much for you as one longer walk.
And here’s the thing that jumped out at me:
They didn’t have to walk more. Just walk longer at a time.
Ten to fifteen minutes. That’s it.
Not 10,000 steps.
Not a marathon.
Just one block of uninterrupted movement.
If you want a simple upgrade to your health this week, don’t settle for a lap around the kitchen………take a real walk.
